Business Experience.
Community Experience.
Real Impact.
NFPC is built on a rare combination of corporate and community experience — and a genuine understanding of what both sides need to make partnerships work.
Built From Real Experience
Liam Starkey
Founder, Not For Profit ConsultancyNFPC was founded by Liam Starkey, bringing together over 10 years of corporate experience with senior-level third sector leadership, funding knowledge, partnership development and real community impact.
NFPC is built around Liam's experience, but it is not limited to just one person. It brings together Liam's knowledge, relationships and wider support network to help businesses and community organisations create impact that is meaningful, practical and properly delivered.
Liam's Background
Liam started his career in the corporate sector, working in sales, customer-facing and business development roles with global brands including Audi and BMW — building a strong commercial foundation in sales, customer service, relationship building and working under pressure.
Liam later moved into the third sector, playing a key role in growing an inclusive community organisation from grassroots delivery into a large, multi-use facility supporting over 10,000 people each year — including children, adults, families, schools and people with additional needs, complex needs and life-limiting illnesses.
His experience includes helping secure over £1m in funding, contributing to an estimated £4.3m in social and economic impact, developing innovative community programmes and building strategic partnerships, all connected to the growth of a large inclusive community facility based in one of the top 5% most deprived areas of the UK.
Experience & Impact
Not For Profit Consultancy CIC is built from real experience across community development, funding, governance, social impact and business partnerships.
The following examples include both direct NFPC support and Liam Starkey’s wider leadership experience across the charity, CIC, grassroots and community sector.
They show the experience, learning and relationships that now shape the work of NFPC.
The Inclusive Hub
Liam started with The Inclusive Hub as a volunteer before progressing into a Director role, helping support the organisation’s growth from a one-hour weekly session into a seven-day-a-week inclusive community operation.
The Inclusive Hub now supports around 380 people every week and more than 10,000 visits each year through inclusive fitness, fun-based boxing, SEND provision, youth and adult programmes, school sessions, family support, health and wellbeing activity and community partnerships.
Liam has contributed to the development of the organisation’s funding, partnerships, strategy, governance, business relationships and wider growth.
He also helped oversee the redevelopment of a rundown church hall into an inclusive facility with an accessible gym, multi-purpose function hall, sensory room, education and training suite, independent living areas and accessible community spaces.
This experience has shaped NFPC’s understanding of what strong community organisations need to survive, grow and evidence their impact.
Lion Culture CIC
Through NFPC, Liam worked with Lion Culture CIC during its early development, providing one-to-one guidance to founder Joseph around programme ideas, organisational structure and the steps needed to turn the concept into a funded community offer.
This included early-stage mentoring, programme development and an introduction to a funding advisor, which contributed to £18,555 of Sport England funding.
The funding helped create a men’s mental health programme built around fitness, accountability, shared experience and positive peer support.
The programme continues to run today. Alongside this, Lion Culture has continued to develop its wider work, including leadership courses that result in diploma qualifications and create opportunities for personal growth, confidence and progression.
Speedo Mick Foundation
Liam provided policy, procedure and organisational development advice to the Speedo Mick Foundation.
This included creating whole-organisation policies from scratch, alongside input into programme development, including early work linked to a music and mental health initiative.
The Speedo Mick Foundation reaches thousands of people through Mick’s fundraising, with money distributed to charities, CICs and community organisations through grants.
Bootle Together
For Bootle Together, founded by former Mayor of Sefton Cllr Dave Robinson, Liam contributed to strategy discussions, programme development and understanding local community need.
This included attending meetings, shaping ideas, identifying funding routes and offering ongoing advice around organisational development and future sustainability.
Northern City FC
Liam has advised Northern City FC around funding, policies, safeguarding, mentoring, organisational development and employment pathway ideas for players.
The organisation has grown to three teams, including an under 12 mixed team, under 16 team and open age team.
The focus has been on helping the club become more structured, safer, more sustainable and better placed to create positive opportunities for young people and adults through football.
Wider Community and Business Support
Across NFPC and his wider leadership experience, Liam has advised a range of community organisations, foundations and businesses working in inclusive fitness, sport, mental health, community development and inclusion.
This has shaped NFPC’s understanding of the challenges smaller organisations face, including limited capacity, funding pressures, governance gaps, safeguarding requirements and the need to clearly evidence their impact.
Liam has also built relationships with businesses, funders and local partners that want to support communities in a more meaningful and structured way, helping them understand where their contribution can make the greatest difference and how it can create real social value.
A network built on trusted relationships.
Liam has worked alongside a wide range of partners and stakeholders across business, public sector and community:
NFPC understands both sides.
We understand how businesses think, what they need and why their social value or community support needs to feel worthwhile, credible and aligned with their wider goals.
We also understand what CICs, charities and grassroots organisations face every day — from funding pressure and governance to delivery, growth, impact reporting and long-term sustainability.
That mix of corporate experience, community leadership and trusted relationships is what makes NFPC different. NFPC helps bring those worlds together — supporting businesses to give back properly and helping community organisations become stronger, more sustainable and better equipped to grow.
